We are based in Martindale, so Caldwell County is the ground we know best and reach fastest. On most jobs here we are on site before a contractor from Austin or San Antonio has finished loading a trailer.

It is also genuinely different ground from the Hill Country counties west of us. This is Blackland Prairie running into post oak savannah - deeper, heavier, clay-rich soil that holds water rather than letting it vanish into limestone.

That one fact changes what people need. On the plateau, water runs off and the problem is rock. Here the soil will hold what you put in it, which is why this is stock tank and pond country - and why a tank dug thirty years ago that has silted up is usually worth restoring rather than abandoning and starting again somewhere else.

The brush is different too. Mesquite and thorny scrub rather than cedar, which is a different clearing job with a different aftercare plan behind it.
